The ancient Egyptian civilisation reached its peak around 3150 BC. They originated in North africa and based around the river nile. The purpose of art in this period of the civilisation was mostly for religious and spiritual beliefs.
They preformed elaborate burial procedures which included mummification although all burials included goods for the deceased if you were a wealthier person, you would be buried in a tomb. Among being buried with fine riches and luxuries in which was believed would be taken with you into the afterlife, your life and various relative occasions would be carved and or painted onto the walls of your tomb. For paint they would use various minerals, soot and charcoal.

Another major main aspect for visual communication in ancient Egypt was the book of the dead. This was a book full of chants, and spells, it was basically a funerary text used to help people cope with the recently deceased or people that are close to death and what awaits them in the afterlife.
The ancient egyptians were extremely religiously and spiritually influenced in nearly everything they did.
