Finals

This is my final pieces for the book of drawings. Overall Im happy with the outcome.

My favourites are capricorn,leo and pisces. I love the contrast between the vivid colour of the main image and the purple background.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to complete all 12 signs of the zodiac, so I picked 6 of the ones which I found the most interesting to represent. These include (in order)

If I had more time I would most defiantly continue to make the set complete by creating the other 6 signs of the zodiac.

These are the original ideas for my series of six images for my book of drawings.

I have based my work around the signs of the zodiac.

I originally created the ideas and drew them down with various graphite pencils. I was going to outline them in fine liner but I thought the lack of colour made them look bland and uninteresting. So I added a splash of colour with watercolours. After this I still found them uninteresting so I have decided to recreate them digitally to make the colours more vivid and interesting.

I have interpreted the following signs of the Zodiacs.

Alphonse Mucha

Alphonse Mucha is a czech art noveau painter and decorative artist. I love his individual style and the use of plain yet vivid colour. His attention to simplistic detail draws me to his work.

Josephine wall

Josephine wall

Josephine Wall is a fantasy painter from Doreset.Her pottery figures include characters from Tolkien's Lord of the rings and mythological creatures. Pieces of this work now feature in a book on the history of Poole Pottery.

Her paintings are mainly influenced and inspired by Arthur Rackham, with lesser influences from surrealist artists such as Magritte and Dalí, and the romanticism of the pre-Raphaelites.

I love these illusrtations of the signs of the zodiac, I love how she depicts them and how detailed they are.

When I first started this project I had so many ideas on what to do, because of this all my ideas became jumbled up in my head. After A LOT of research into things that I thought would make a good series of images, I decided to base my work around the zodiac star signs and that is what the following research is based on.

Vaugh Pinpin

Vaughn Pinpin is an aspiring illustrator and a student of Visual Communication of the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. 

I love his work because it's hghly influenced by Tim Burton and it's dark and grungy which ties in with my style of work.

Michael Shantz is an artist from the westcoast of Canada. His art has allowed him to creep around the world infecting his plague upon every city and every person he can.  Working as a freelance illustrator/designer/art director has allowed him to work with some of your favorite bands, as well as heavy hitter clothing lines like  Mishka, Drop Dead and many many others.
